Coping with Stress
November 3 is National Stress Awareness Day.
It is common for each of us to experience stress in our lives. At times, it helps us to handle a situation, but at other times, it can be debilitating and interfere with our normal daily activities and functions. Finding healthy ways to cope with stress is essential.
National Stress Awareness Day acts as a reminder to learn to identify and reduce the stress in your life.
The American Psychological Association offers these valuable recommendations to overcome the adverse effects of stress in healthy ways:
- Try to eliminate the stressors
- Cultivate social support
- Seek good nutrition
- Relax your muscles
- Meditate
- Protect your sleep
- Get physical
- Take a moment in nature
- Keep your pleasurable activities
- Reframe your thinking
- Seek help.
The last one is important as you do not have to go through it alone. If you are feeling overwhelmed with stress, we are here for you. At Embracing Life Wellness Center, we offer a holistic approach to coping with stress through counseling, therapy, and medication management. We work with our patients to identify the most effective treatment option that will allow them to flourish.
Often stress can lead to depression. In cases of persistent and medication-resistant depression, we offer NeuroStar Advanced Therapy. This highly-effective, non-drug option uses a targeted, pulsed magnetic field to stimulate areas of the brain that are underactive in individuals with depressive symptoms.
If you or a loved one are experiencing persistent stress, anxiety, or depression, please reach out to us for help and support by completing the form below, or request an appointment.
You are not alone, and we are here to help you with kindness and compassion.
