What Is NeuroStar TMS?
There are many treatment options available for clinical depression. However, some patients are concerned about negative side effects often associated with depression medications. TMS makes long-term remission from depression possible, without the side effects of drugs.
TMS, or transcranial magnetic stimulation, is an advanced therapy which uses a targeted, pulsed magnetic field, similar to what is used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. The pulses, produced through a NeuroStar FDA approved device, are delivered directly to the specific area of the brain involved in depression. Over 3 million treatments have been safely performed by the NeuroStar device. At Embracing Life Wellness Center, we have successfully treated more than 100 patients, with 84% of patients experiencing relief of their depressive symptoms, and with 50% achieving remission.

Like all mental health conditions, major depressive disorder is a result of abnormalities in brain structure and function. The brain regions that are impacted by MDD are the same areas that regulate emotion, mood, and behavior. Our clinicians could help you understand whether your condition is treatable with TMS therapy in our Riverview office during an initial consultation.
