It’s easy to get caught up in work, deadlines, social commitments, and family life. Way too often we can place our health and wellness on the back burner. However, now is always a good time to start living your best life! Every August, National Wellness Month is celebrated to raise awareness on how to improve health and wellness. This month focuses on all aspects of health including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. By refocusing and caring for every aspect of overall health, you can start living the best life possible!
The best way to start improving your health and wellness is to start small with doable habits that are easy to include in your daily life. These habits include basic healthy routines, practicing self-care, and learning new ways to lower stress.
- Get an appropriate amount of sleep every night.
- Get outside! Spend a few minutes every day experiencing sunlight and fresh air.
- Take note of good moments each day.
- Practice gratitude for things in your life.
- Set aside 15-30 minutes each day to recenter yourself and practice self-care.
- Start some form of exercising 3-5 times a week.
- Be social and spend time with people you care about every week.
- Implement healthier food choices every day.
- Explore new hobbies that interest you.
- Practice self compassion by forgiving yourself and understanding that you are doing your best everyday.
